Profiles, nicknames and avatars
Version 2026-09-25Interim, under legal reviewContact theCoderSchool
Other members only ever see your nickname and your avatar. Nobody sees your real name except your instructor and the centre's administrators.
Nicknames
- The site gives you a nickname when your account is made, like @PixelLlama30. It is picked at random, so it says nothing about who you are.
- It is not your username. Your username is only for signing in: keep it to yourself.
- Neither can be changed.
Avatars
Pick an icon and a colour from the set on your Customize page. Frames, backgrounds and titles you earn by finishing lessons can be worn too; they are all made by the site, so there is nothing to upload. There are no photo avatars. Your initials come from your nickname.
Who sees your profile
- The class leaderboard shows the five builders with the most XP, by nickname. You also see your own place. Nobody can see the whole class list.
- Friends see your nickname, avatar, XP, level and badges. You become friends only when you and another member have both typed each other's nickname.
- Staff can see your profile. There is no public profile page and no search.
If something is wrong
Tell an instructor. They can reset an avatar and help with anything that does not feel right.
